It’s OK To Be A Millionaire, Just Be Careful

18 Apr

Seth: Most people want money. Most of those people want a lot of money. Few of any of those people set as an aggressive goal to achieve this as Ray did with The Million Dollar Experiment. Personally, I don’t have a strong desire for riches. I want to be comfortable and possess the ability to do a lot of things (which require money) but I have no desire to be a millionaire. Ray wants to be a billionaire. He wants a lot of money. Wealthy people and people who aspire to be this wealthy aren’t commonly associated with many positive things. In fact, in movies, television, and real life, people as ambitious as this are portrayed commonly to be evil cheats who will run their mother over with a bus to get a dollar. But many people aren’t like this at all. Take Raysean for instance. He use of the term”financial freedom” and other statements about wealth don’t signal blind ambition. Furthermore, in wanting to be “Wealthy,” opposed to “Rich” he shows he understands another concept: Stewardship (entry on that coming soon).

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 1 Timothy 6:10

This particular blog is only cautionary. If your motives are in the wrong place, your search for money will yield more than you will be able to handle. However if your heart is right, you will reap more than you can imagine from places you would never expect. In the forthcoming entry on Stewardship, I’m going to discuss just how and why God blesses us, and what he expects in return.
