Obama Gets Major Endorsement to Help Seal the Deal

14 May

Ray: Barack Obama received a major endorsement today in the form of former Presidential Candidate John Edwards. Since Edwards dropped out of the race back in January, his support has been highly sought after by both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama because of the amount of supporters he was able to capture as a candidate himself.

Edwards said last week that it was “fine” for Clinton to continue making her case, but expressed concern that a continued campaign could damage the party’s prospects in November. This endorsement could help Barack Obama reach out to white and blue-collar voters which is a demographic group that Obama has failed to capture, most notably in the recent Pennsylvania and West Virginia primaries.

Barack Obama currently leads the delegate race with 1,884 (CNN Estimation) total delegates vs. Hillary Clinton’s 1,718 (CNN Est.) total delegates.
