Devastation in Myanmar

5 May

Ray: On Friday, April 2nd, 2008, the nation of Myanmar was hit with 150mph winds and 20 inches of rain over a 10-hour period. This wasn’t just a major storm, it was a full-powered cyclone. Less that one week later, Myanmar’s Foreign Ministry office announced that more than 100,000 people have been killed as result of this cyclone. Thousands more are injured and thousands more are without food, clean water, and shelter.

As Americans, we very much so remember the disaster that was Hurricane Katrina. With less technology and access to valuable resources, the rescue efforts in Myanmar will be many times more difficult that anything we’ve experienced here. Our prayers go out to the people of Myanmar and all the rescue organizations working diligently to provide some form of aid to those people.
